Frequently asked questions

What is a credit?

A credit is the unit used to price an assessment. A full patentability assessment is charged as one 10-credit amount when it starts, allocated across literature search (1), novelty analysis under EPC Art. 54 (4), inventive step under EPC Art. 56 (4), and claim strategy (1). Regular, Expert, Enterprise, and Whale are single-payment credit bundles.

How is this different from a traditional patent search?

Patentopia connects source discovery, an approved feature model, document review, novelty analysis, inventive-step routes, and claim strategy in one reviewable record. The report identifies the sources searched and links findings to the documents and feature-level evidence reviewed.

How are the assessment findings presented?

Patentopia presents novelty and inventive step separately, with the strongest single-document overlap, the principal combination route, drafting readiness, and links to the evidence reviewed. These are screening findings for professional review, not a grant probability.

Do I need a patent attorney after using Patentopia?

Patentopia supports professional patent work; it does not replace legal advice or an authority decision. The assessment gives your IP team or attorney a documented search and analysis record to review, correct, and use in deciding the next step.

What happens after I pay?

Credit-bundle payments are handled securely via Stripe. Purchased credits are added to your account for complete assessments across the four stages. All four Phase 1 packages are single payments. Completed assessments remain available in the web report and can be exported as a PDF.
